He seems like he's had extensive experience playing the game, and it seems like he continues to play on a regular basis.
Has anyone here seen him in game? Does he raid mythic or do any high end challenging stuff?

I have quite a bit of experience. I've played for 12 years total this fall and more than 10 now have been on my Paladin.

People have probably seen me in game but its under a different name. As for what content I do I'm very much so a Mythic raider. I go through phases of being very into it and casually doing raid tiers with friends. Every so often I get back into it far more aggressively. I do have a world first kill! Not saying which one because it would be far too easy to track my personal Paladin. It wasn't a final boss though so it's not as impressive.

Yep! The name Ythisens is actually claimed globally on all regions since it was my name as a Game Master. So its reserved for that account. My personal names are all different.

It's not a listed requirement but I'd be impressed if anyone could do this job and not know the game inside and out to a very high degree. You pretty much have to play it to know the intricacies of how the community and the game functions. Every CM on WoW loves the game and plays it quite a bit and we actually do Mythic+'s, raids, and battlegrounds together.
I can't imagine anyone who didn't play the game and understand the community getting past the interview process. Ornyx asked me some pretty hard questions I had to really think about while answering.

Honest Answer:
Both
I have characters ready to go on both sides. I've done progression on both sides. The main Paladin is Horde however I have two more on the Alliance side. Majority of my alts are still Alliance since I've spent the most time on that side of the fence.
Ooh could you at least tell us the race of your paladin?
Horde one is Blood Elf. The main Alliance one is Human and the second is Dwarf. Soon to be Dark Iron Dwarf!

It is a very good set, Since I'm horde and DK, my favourite is the fearless gladiator dreadplate set but I recently changed back to heroic T11 since I got Aggramar's sword. For my Alliance DK I switch between both normal and heroic T11.
I'm jealous because I haven't got Aggramar's Sword yet! I got the Argus scythe so I guess it's a fair trade off. His blue scythe goes GREAT with the Pally Challenge gear.

Yep. I did mine when it first came out. I spent months paying people for Darkmoon deck turn ins. I think I spent a good 500-600k in total on getting Darkmoon exalted.

I'm a North American Community Manager. Only US and Canada exist to me. Shoutout to Canada. Also... NA>EU. I've run out of generic NA things to say.
We do have Latin America Community Managers by the way and forums in those languages.

It was given to me on my first day as a Game Master. Since I already had a relationship with the name internally I decided to just keep it. In hindsight I probably should've changed it to something easier to pronounce.
I wish they'd let you guys honestly address the Horde situation at Blizzard.
I'd be curious to see what the actual demographic of Blizzard employees is regarding Horde or Alliance. I think people would be surprised as I think its pretty balanced. I had to actually gear up Alliance characters during Legion just to play with employees that roll alliance. I'm not sure how it was back in the day but I'd say it's probably like 60 percent Horde.

Most people that I play with regularly know I'm a CM.
And finally after all that work, I will be able to server transfer my rogue, race transfer, sneak up on the poor ox and sap him until he begs the devs to do something about unlimited rogue saps. :D

I don't usually unless I'm after something. I'm very much a grinder so I go after specific rewards. Achievements, Appearances, mounts, etc.

1v3 against a Feral Druid and two Rogues as a Ret Paladin. They tried to jump me on Argus on like the second or third week. They opened on me. Medallion'd the Kidney into SoV+Wings+WoA. HoJ'd the second higher health rogue. Double crit TV via Divine Purpose proc and killed the Druid(deleted him really). Then I just kept the higher health rogue locked down while I finished off his lower Rogue friend and then finished off the last Rogue. I think it took around a min and a half ish? Had quite a few lucky Divine Purpose procs throughout the fight.
I should've lost as I'm terrible at PVP but I don't think they knew what to do if someone outlived their burst and fought back. Apparently they had spent the entire day doing that to people.

Oooo favorite dungeon is hard. I always liked doing Sunken Temple and Uldaman. There wasn't anything inherently hard about them but progressing though them was always fun. If you're talking aesthetics then definitely Grimrail Depot because its a moving train and that's just rad. Freehold might take it because, well pirates and Shark Puncher.

That's not even hard for me. The Burning Crusade. It was the first expansion I raided in and I just have a lot of memories of learning more about the game in that time frame. It's very much a nostalgia thing for me in that regard. My favorite expansion though is probably Mists of Pandaria.

Contrary to what the forums may have you believe, the majority of WoW players are not of the variety you suggest.
99% of players that find me and message me are actually very pleasant as well. It's very rare that I have a negative experience.

Well we definitely laugh at the fake leaks, some are REALLY bad that somehow people believe. I've never been to 4chan though.

It probably won't live up to it. No sequel is ever as good as the original but as a fan I'm going to love it anyway. I go into everything blank that way if it's bad I'm not that let down and if its good then I have a great time. If it's bad who cares, someone will like it and we'll still have the original.

Zandalari. Probably back home to visit family. I'm not a big vacation person really so I usually take time off and stay home to play games. The nice thing about living in SoCal is that you can take a day off and spend it at the beach, or someplace like Disneyland.

I don't know if there are any plans like that. Generally when we say something is being removed at the end we don't bring that reward back. On one hand I'd love to get my missing sets, I only got 4 of them, but I feel like we shouldn't detract their prestige or value. Never know what the future holds though but I would doubt we make those obtainable again. (inb4 25 page MMO Champion thread about how I announced they're coming back)

Every Mu'ru pre nerf kill felt like a world first kill. Definitely wasn't Mu'ru though, we didn't eat through our servers shamans fast enough.
This is a fun thread, I think it'd be cool to have a Q&A session with the other Blues too. Thank you Ythisen for taking the time.
Plus it's been such a long time since we've heard from Neth.
Neth still works on WoW :) She writes a lot of our blogs so you kinda hear from her almost everyday :D I'll tell her you guys said hi when I see her later today.

Mirasol I really like Yth too, but that is not fair to the other CMs. They love the game too and are very involved, but not all of them are as comfy talking about things as candidly as Yth is. Different styles for different folks. The conventional wisdom for a long time was to keep things on the public front "professional" - which to some can mean distant of impersonal, but that seems to be changing, at least for some individuals.
Different CMs definitely have different styles. I'm very comfortable talking about the game and my personal experiences. I mean I've been extremely active in the game now for almost half of my life at this point.
