What do you do for a living?
i find it fascinating how people in WoW do some crazy things for a living that i'd never imagine they do. some people i've met sell motorcycles, surgeon, school teacher, IT, etc..

sometimes i think to myself wth are you doing playing WoW when you have what sounds like an amazing career? jokingly of course as we all play for our own reasons.

So what do you do for a living? If retired then what did you do when you worked? and if not working such as in college or w.e. what do you plan to do?

Me im currently debating on staying in my current field of major which is Culinary arts or going into IT basically just for more money. i love to cook been doing it for 3 years now since i finished college but the pay isn't as great as other fields at least not in my state unless your a sous chef or head chef. Im only a line cook though working in various restaurants. right now though i currently work with my old sous chef and we make beef jerky. it's boring just doing it to take a break from cooking though as i save up for school if i decide to change majors.

I make jokes on the internet for a living.

In all seriousness though I talk to all of you guys and the various teams in publishing, marketing, development, esports, consumer products, customer support, etc. about World of Warcraft literally everyday. I help ensure players are represented in various aspects internally when it comes to things like development or marketing programs. I also act as an expert on Warcraft as a franchise internally for various activations that you see on things like ads, promos, and after BlizzCon last year potentially even Dioramas! I get to do a lot of things that can change everyday and its pretty fun.

Growing up I worked on a farm, and helped friends work on theirs too. Things like hauling hay, scrap metal, and things of that nature (hated every second of it). I've also worked various retail and customer service jobs.

Fun Fact: I once worked at a Wal-Mart but then quit because they wouldn't give me the night off for the Cataclysm launch.

What sparked your interest in this field, especially with Blizzard?

I was working as a Game Master. On every team I was on (Game Masters are assigned to teams that work together) I quickly became the source of WoW knowledge and became an expert internally on that for the team in case any GM got stuck on something with it. I then realized I had a knack for organizing and I helped run high end guilds, and sophisticated player programs in games like EVE.

One of my leaders here at Blizzard pointed out to me one day that I should be in Community Management and I put it all together and figured out that it was the perfect field for me as the next career step based on all the things I was already doing. The more I learned about the role the more I wanted it and lucky for me a spot came open for WoW right after I prepped myself to be ready for it should it arise.

It's a perfect example that you should always be preparing yourself because you never know when an opportunity might pop up.
