The Ignore Feature.
It should go both ways. If someone ignores you making it impossible to communicate with them, why then are they allowed to communicate with you. For the last hour or so someone has been going on multiple alts whispering me while I am already on ignore and spamming rude nasty messages. I cant respond to them. I cant ignore their alts and new characters they are making.

Why is this a feature. The only thing that allowing players to whisper someone on ignore does is fuel a toxic and immature environment. If a player chooses to never receive any of your messages why then would you allow them to spam the ignored with harassing messages? There's literally no reason for this to be allowed.

There are literally a number of reasons why it is and should be allowed. The first and most substantial would be that another player doesn't get to decide if you can see their chat.

It is your decision if you want to ignore them, not a decision they make for you.

If someone is using inappropriate language/subject matter, be sure to use the right click report option to report it. That will place their account on a temporary ignore for your play session.

I would also place them on ignore, do not respond or otherwise engage. If they somehow circumvent that ignore option report it as ongoing harassment as the others recommended. Be sure to place the additional characters on ignore as well.

What? Is that not the exact point of ignore?

The function of ignore is to allow you to ignore another user. The point the original point made in this thread was that they felt that ignore should also force the person being ignored to be ignored for you as well.

Basically forcing you to ignore them because they are ignoring you.

This is a really dumb answer.

I'm sorry that you feel so, though you might have simply said you didn't agree with what I said. If you don't see how a system that forces you to ignore someone can't be abused I'm not going to cover all the scenarios.

the most common response is "Put them on ignore and report them for harassment if they keep it up", what doesn't make sense is if you go "please leave me alone" blizzard says you are agreed to the harassment.

No, if you said "please leave me alone" and placed them on ignore that is another matter entirely. If you fought with them to get in the final word and then placed them on ignore, that is mutually combative. I'm sorry that your guild experienced this, Tainalahu. Understand, we ask you to place them on ignore and report because we are trying to establish a pattern of behavior that allows us to take steps to deal with it. If they used bad language and/or subject matter, that is easy to verify, but "harassment" that means different things to different people.

We're not designed to micromanage your social relationships in-game, there will always be folks you don't get along with. We try to do what we can to mitigate situations like you described though. I don't know the history of your case, or what steps you or we took, but I'm sorry that the process failed you.

Why should it be up to the player to have to block each alt of the person that is doing the supposed harassing?

It isn't. The ignore system should ignore the entire account for that character.

Wait, is OP complaining about public chat or PM's?

NO one should be able to control what someone else posts in trade/general etc...but if someone places you on ignore then they should not be able to continually msg you in a PM

Truth be told, I think I took it as just ignore in general, Holy. However, specific to direct messages I can see how that would be a productive limitation.

That isn't a feature that our CS staff can implement though so I'd recommend submitting feedback/suggestion so our Devs can review it.
