Test Request: Unobtainable Appearances
Hello,

As you may have seen in-game, the new Transmogrification Collection (the appearance tab) displays appearances not only for items/appearances you already own, but also all of the ones you haven’t collected yet. However, if you haven’t collected an item, and it can no longer be obtained (such as rewards from quests that have been removed, or limited time items), it shouldn’t show up in the window, since you’d never able to “fill in” that spot in the collection.

That said, there’s a lot of items in WoW, and we could use your help making sure we got things right! If you happen to notice an item in the Appearance Collection tab that players can no longer obtain, let us know by posting below. Specific item names or links to database sites are preferred.

Basically, if an unobtainable item is displayed in the collection window and you don’t have it already, it’s a bug, and we need to know what that item is in order to be able to fix it. (Note that if you have an item, it should be displayed in the Appearances collection even if it’s no longer obtainable.)

Actually some of this testing is really only doable *without* character copies. If you copy over your priest who had a lot of unobtainable items, they'd show up in the appearance tab, which is fine because you already have them. But if those same items showed up for somebody else, who didn't have them, that would be a bug.

We've caught a lot of those but there's undoubtedly more out there.

Not sure if this is the correct spot for this, but what about white quality items that are currently transmogable on Live?

For example:

Perfect example of what they are looking for.

Hmm, actually that's not exactly what we're asking for in this thread. To use that item as an example, if it was unobtainable (like you couldn't buy it from a vendor in 7.0) but still transmoggable and showed up on the appearance tab for everybody (including people who didn't have that item), that would be a bug, and that's what we're looking for in this thread.

Need character copy, I have a lot of unobtainable gear, T3, old vanilla items etc

For the purposes of this testing, you'd need to test that gear like that *doesn't* show up before your copy comes over. Because once you've copied that stuff is stored on your Beta account forever, even if you delete the copied character.

I mean there's definitely value in making sure that items such as your old T3 work properly in the new system, I totally get that. This is just us pointing out testing that could be done today, even without character copy.

How about this shield from Old 40 Naxx? It Shows up as a world drop in the Transmogrification Collection, and unless you are making it a random world drop, it is no longer attainable.

Excellent, this is exactly the kind of items we want to catch with this kind of testing.

Hi friends, this post is to let you know that the beta build we are deploying today contains a fix that should correctly award credit for many quests that were reported in this thread. If you have reported a missing appearance, please give it a retest in this build and let us know what you're still missing. You should not need to re-copy your characters.

We are still working on Quel'delar, Benediction, Rhok'delar, Griftah's, and a few others that required some TLC.

I noticed that the AQ 40 tier 2.5 class sets weren't in my Appearance Tab after having deleted them so long ago. I'm guessing that they can't be properly tracked and retroactively added because the quest is repeatable?

That's the only explanation I can come with here, but even then, you'd think there'd at least be a way to track if the player has done the quest at least once. Any clarification we can get on this matter helps.

Your guess is correct. Repeatable quests cannot give credit for appearances, sorry.

Thanks for the continued reports - we'll look in to as many as we can.

3 updates for you in this build, and the next.

We believe that all Mail Bind on Eqiup items that differ from live servers (i.e. were changed to plate) have been reverted to Mail to avoid breaking existing transmogs that relied on these items. Please let us know if we missed any - use wowhead to check the status of current items if you are unsure.

Racial restrictions that were added which differ from live (Very Lite Sabre, etc.) are removed in this build. When we audited these items, we discovered some items that we feel should have converted to faction-specific items that were not doing so: the primary source of these are the level 50 quest helms. These items have been changed so they will always match your faction, granting you credit for both appearances but ensuring you aren't transmogging to the Helm of the Horde on your Alliance character. This is consistent with other items that are strongly faction associated. If you encounter further items that differ from live in this manner, please let us know.
Edit: We just fixed some Priest quest staves and the Silvermoon chest items from Bloodmyst that were still incorrectly flagged.

In addition, this build should contain back-credit fixes for Rhok, Quel'delar (granting ALL variants), and the Warcraft movie items. The next build will contain fixes for Griftah's, Benediction, and will also back-credit the T0.0 dungeon items if you completed the quests for the T0.5 quests.

Cudgel of the Warmaster. The lfr appearance shows up in my appearance tab as not collected. As far as I know dragon soul lfr weapons not from deathwing never dropped on live servers and this is an unobtainable item. I mean, if you're gonna have them start dropping from DS LFR that's great, though.

This is now a thing. Get your recolors on.

The next build will contain fixes for Griftah's, Benediction, and will also back-credit the T0.0 dungeon items if you completed the quests for the T0.5 quests.

Going to quote this big liar to let you know what's going on with the Tier 0/0.5 items. One of our goals for the transmog system is that your class unlocks rewards that are appropriate to your class, and if other classes can use them, cool -- but we don't want you to do everything in the system with one character. The dungeon tier 0.5 quests cause a violation of that goal. The way that these quests were implemented doesn't allow us to reward only the accomplishments for your class - the quests are shared across all classes in a way that is very atypical of our usual design. In short, if you earned bracers on one class, you're gonna get all of 'em. We didn't know this when we intended to backport the Tier 0 items, and we feel like giving both the Tier 0 recolor and the Tier 0.5 recolor for every class in that slot is a bit much. You'll get the tier 0.5 credit across all classes, but not the tier 0. I do want to remind everyone these recolors are still available at the Darkmoon Faire, so we're not condemning them to the Twisting Nether for all time.

Thanks for all the bug reports - keep them coming.
